In response to a growing number of Israeli families traveling to St. Louis for medical care at Children’s Hospital – some who are already here and some who will be arriving in the near future - Bikur Cholim of St. Louis is seeking to enhance our volunteer efforts. Thank you to all who responded to the email of 2 weeks ago with availability for driving and facilitating child playdates. If we could ask each of you to look at this detailed list, we would so appreciate if you could respond where you feel you fit in.
1. Transportation between Children’s Hospital and the house or hotel where they are staying, to bring patients for appointments or to bring meals
2. Recreation, offering to take guests to stores, or other outings, such as the zoo, etc. to provide much-needed down time for families full of anxiety so that they can relax
3. Playdates for young patients and their siblings
4. Sponsoring meals
a) It is possible that we will meet at a Vaad Hoeir-approved shul kitchen to produce many meals at one time that can be used to help feed our guests. Perhaps you’d like to help sponsor the cost of this food prep. Perhaps you’d like to come help cook. Please indicate your interest.
b) Sponsoring catered meals
c) Offering to cook a meal
*Are you able to bring the meal to the family yourself, or do you need someone to bring it for you?
This need exists particularly right now, and then continues through September. If you can, respond by phone or email to:
